Tape Tune Up And Repair Services
     

 

Although the main focus of this website is to empower fellow 8 track enthusiasts to repair their own tapes, I realize that not everyone has the desire to do such repairs.  So I do offer an 8 track tape "tune up" and repair service.  My tape tune up includes the following:


*Sense Foil replacement

*Foam Pad/Felt Pad replacement as necessary

*Melted pinch roller replacement if necessary

*Cleaning of the pinch roller

*Cleaning of the interior and exterior of the cartridge

*Clean and lube the spindles for the pinch roller and tape reel

*Tape tension adjustment as needed

*Repair of tapes that have been eaten by the machine and are either broken  off inside the cartridge or a tangled mess protruding from the cartridge.


In most cases a tune up will take care of most (but NOT all) wow and flutter issues many tapes suffer from.  It WILL help to ensure your tape does not self destruct when played after having been shelved for several years (however accidents do happen!).  A tune up will NOT fix tape drop nor will it bring back fidelity lost from tape damage (demagnetization, exposure to temperature extremes, damage done from the tape being eaten by the player).

1-10 tapes $7 per tape + outbound shipping

10 or more tapes $5 each + outbound shipping


Shipping


Customer pays the shipping to ship the tapes out too me (media mail is your friend here).  I pay the return shipping costs to ship back to customer via media mail.  


Payment


I  accept Paypal, Personal Checks and Money Orders.  Check or Money Order payments can be included in the tape shipment.


How It Works


After you've decided you would like to utilize my service, I email you my shipping address.  I realize it can be a bit unnerving to send your beloved tapes out to a stranger.  So I make every effort to help ease any fears you might have (I'm also recommended by Barry's 8 Track Repair).  Once your tapes arrive I send you an email, so you know that I have received them.  I keep you updated on the progress of the repairs and send you an email with tracking information once they have shipped.


At this time I only offer my tune up/repair services to customers located in the USA.
